Ofloxacin & Dexamethasone Eye/Ear Drops
Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin is prescribed to cure bacterial infections of the eyes. Bacterial infection of the eye is a condition where bacteria infect any region of the eyeball or surrounding tissue, such as the cornea (clear outer layer of the eye) and the conjunctiva (thin membrane covering the outer eye and inner eyelids).
Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin includes Dexamethasone and Ofloxacin. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid. It inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that cause the affected site to become red, swollen, and itchy. Ofloxacin is a member of a group of drugs known as quinolone antibiotics. It is bactericidal (bactericidal means that it kills bacteria) and inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme needed for DNA replication, transcription, and repair.
Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin Eye/Ear Drops are employed to cure eye bacterial infections like conjunctivitis or pink eye. It inhibits the growth of infection-causing bacteria and relieves pain, swelling, redness, itching, or eye irritation. Use it 2-3 times a day for at least a week or as directed by the physician. Your symptoms may be relieved after using this Eye/Ear Drop. But be sure to take the entire course of treatment. This will get rid of the infection entirely and stop it from coming back.
Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin Eye/Ear Drops contains two medications: Ofloxacin and Dexamethasone. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cells from reproducing and repairing, thus killing the bacteria. This cures your eye infection. Dexamethasone is a steroid that inhibits the formation of some chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause the eye to become red, swollen, and itchy.
If you are using other eye ointments/drops with Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin, it is recommended to have a gap of at least 5-10 minutes between each dose. Use eye drops first before using any ointments.
Take the forgotten dose of Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin as soon as possible. If the time for the next dose has arrived, take the missed dose and resume the regular dosing schedule.
In general, Dexamethasone +Ofloxacin begins to act as soon as it is administered. Its efficacy, however, varies with the severity of the bacterial infection, dose, and frequency of dosing. Adhere to your physician’s dosing and treatment regimen instructions to maximize efficacy and reduce side effects.
